Scheduled Monero Soft Fork in October, 2018
October 17th, 2018
Review of “Beryllium Bullet” release.
On the 11th of October, 2018 happened the v0.13.0 release of the Monero GUI & CLI software. This release provides a variety of major improvements to Monero, as well as a large set of bug fixes.
This is a major change due to the scheduled Monero’s network upgrade on the 18th of October, on block height 1685555.
Main changes are:
- Bulletproof reduced transaction sizes
- Ringsize changed globally to 11 (check the video below, lol)
- Proof-of-Work update to CryptoNight v8 to prevent possible ASIC mining (check the network hashrate right after the fork will occur)
- Max transaction size will be set at half of the penalty-free block size.
